Cyclone 'Hud Hud' moves north-westwards
DHAKA, Oct 9, 2014 -The cyclonic storm 'Hud Hud' over south-east
Bay and adjoining area moved slightly west-northwestwards and now lies
over east-central Bay and adjoining south-east Bay, said a special
weather bulletin of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) here
today.
The cyclonic storm was centered at 6am today (October 9) about 1025 kms South-Southwest of Chittagong port, 940 kms South-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1015 kms South-Southeast of Mongla port and 975 kms South of Payra port, the bulletin said.
It is likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm and move in a west-northwesterly direction, the Met office bulletin said.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the storm centre is about 62 kp/h rising to 88 km/h in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the storm center, the bulletin forecasted.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal no two, said the bulletin.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, the bulletin concluded.
